Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek, Minister of Health
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Shazali Ramli, CEO of Celcom
Mr. Peter England, Head of Retail Banking of CIMB
Mr. Johan Idris, partner of KPMG

Tan Sri- Tan Sri, Puan Sri- Puan Sri, Dato-Dato, Datin-Datin, all my friends from the media. Ladies and Gentlemen.

Welcome to the official launch of Rainbow of Life Forces or in short we call it ROLF. ROLF is a 7 year community social responsibility campaign which is initiated by CreatiVision D. C. Sdn. Bhd. It consists of 7 seven campaigns and each campaign is formed to support and help children in different situations. Every year we initiate one campaign and we will keep each one of them active for life, hopefully.

The journey of ROLF begins with the Blue Ribbon Campaign (BRC) which focuses on childhood cancer. The purpose of BRC is to bring awareness to childhood cancer and survivorship issues across the region and we try to make this program an educational program for children.

First, I would like to take this opportunity to thank a few parties before I start introducing the campaign. My special thanks to Dato Seri Shazali Ramli and everyone in Celcom for supporting this campaign. Many have asked me before the actual meaning of “Celcom is Power”. I did not know what to answer then but I can tell you now “Power” is the capability and enthusiasm to reach out and help. Celcom is a local brand with a global heart.

My special thanks to the Minister for giving his endorsement to ROLF- Blue Ribbon Campaign. I would also like to thank Dr. Teng, for providing us information concerning the childhood cancer issue. You will see it in our official website. I also want to thank CIMB for sponsoring 100,000 coin boxes and helping us to collect the donation fund nationwide. It is a great help to the fund raising process. And a big thank you to KPMG for accepting the role as the official auditor to the BRC campaign to ensure transparency and accuracy of the donation fund.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank a few more individuals.

  • Dato Ranbir and Zuraida Mohammed from TM for believing in me and the Blue Ribbon Campaign.
  • Dato Wah Idris for composing a beautiful theme song “Forever More” for BRC
  • Will Poh and Eugene for designing the logo.

We have 3 main stages in this one year program. First, we are launching the campaign “A Coin A Day, Keeps the Cancer at Bay” today. This is an educational program for the children. We teach children to save and to help as well as stop using plastic product to reduce global warming. The coin box is made of recycled paper. So, we hope that all parents will support this campaign and help us deliver the message to your children “To save a life and to save the world”. Good habits start from here today with ROLF- Blue Ribbon Campaign.

I need to highlight that these coin-boxes are for personal donation. Public fund raising is strictly prohibited.

Submit your savings to any of the CIMB branches in any states anytime before December 31 this year and fill up this application. We will issue a community card to you and register you as “Friends of BRC”. With your participation, we will form a ROLF community. We will notify our community members on any emergencies like children in need of blood donation, bone marrow transplant, financial support for operations and so on. We will inform you of the latest health related seminars and programs. We will even help the Ministry to deliver messages or information related to childhood cancer.

The community card is a TM ITalk card which carries Rm2 call time, and of course you can top it up in the future. Keep the card because this is a discount card that can be used when you visit our retail partners. There is no yearly renewal fee. Let me thank the following retail partners for supporting this event. Gloria Jean’s Coffee; L2 Organic Shop; Mumbai House; Soho; BreadStory; Coca Restaurants; Forest’s secret; Pinang Medical Supplies; Snips; Marie France Bodyline; Fitness Concept; Video Ezy; U C MAS; Magazines – EPL, Business Today and PC.com; Cathay Cineplexes; epicenter@Pavilion; A-Look; HSL; BodyGlove; World of Cartoons; Crocs; Bella Skin care.

The fund raising campaign will end on December 31, 2007. KPMG will take 14 days to audit the account and we will distribute the gross collection to the beneficiaries on January 15, 2008. As the organizer of the campaign, I assure you “every single cent raised, every single cent goes to the beneficiaries”. We had formed a ROLF-BRC committee to ensure the transparency of the fund raising process. The beneficiaries are Yayasan Nanyang Press, Charity Home of China Press, NSTP Charity Fund, Yayasan Tamil Nesan, Kwong Wah Jit Poh, Persatuan Kebajikan Kanser Kanak Kanak (PEKA), MPA – Children Cancer Fund.

On November 29, we will be hosting the ROLF CUP- All-Star Charity Soccer semi final match in Penang City Stadium and the final at National Stadium Bukit Jalil on December 1, 2007. We have four All-Star Soccer team participating – Hong Kong All Star, Singapore All Star, Malaysia All Star and Indonesian All Star. There will be 130 celebrities all together. Admission is by invitation only. You can check the details with Celcom and CIMB later.

Before I conclude, I would like to thank the media.

Again, thank you very much for supporting this campaign. Let us together make a difference in the life of children.
